During our Healing Grenfell summer camps in 2017 we organised a Pop-Up Healing Pod in Maxilla Gardens, open to anyone effected by the tragedy. The pod offered a safe space to talk with trained psychotherapists and trauma specialists. A range of adults and children visited every day, sharing their feelings of darkness, confusion and loss at the Grenfell tragedy, before going into the tent. Visitors expressed feelings of lightness, calm and release at having been given a voice and a safe intimate space to talk. We brought our Pop-Up Healing Pod back at The Curve over the Christmas and New Year periods 2017/18 to create a peaceful environment for anyone who needed it. We used to pod to have conversations with people about their heritage and migrating stories. We also had story time in the pod with the younger children and this was always a lovely moment of calm in the day.
