In August 2017 Intergenerate CIC, as delivery partner for Barakat Trust, delivered a similar range of camps to their Culture Vulture camps with children affected by the Grenfell tragedy. We worked together with EPIC CIC and Hear Women to offer the project. The camp exposed children, and parents who often accompanied, to new and exciting opportunities. Similarly, to our Culture Vulture camps, there were educational trips and activities organised every day to places that most of the children had never had experience of before. An important component of the project was our Pop-Up Healing Pod open to anyone effected by the tragedy. The pod offered a safe space to talk with trained psychotherapists and trauma specialists. A range of adults and children visited every day, sharing their feelings of darkness, confusion and loss at the Grenfell tragedy, before going into the tent. Visitors expressed feelings of lightness, calm and release at having been given a voice and a safe intimate space to talk.
